Marriages that Foster Intimacy The Bible is very specific…God intends marriage to be a covenant relationship between one man and one woman that endures and brings great enjoyment. Marriages, when done God's way, bring great joy, extreme pleasure, many blessings and foster deep intimacy! Marriages, when done our way, often become self focused and fail miserably in bringing any joy! Good strong marriages takes work…a lot of work; you won't find an “auto pilot button” in a great marriage relationship. All that hard work pays off in great rewords! For a truly fantastic marriage, however, it must be one built on the foundation of intimacy with God. In this retreat, we look at building a God honoring marriage. The central theme is how can we make our marriage please God? We look at the things that make up who we are as marriage partners, marital pitfalls and how the baggage we drag around affects our marriage. A portion of our time together will look at forgiveness…forgiving our mate and our past. Why all the fuss over marriage? When our marriages aren't running right, our relationship with God detrimentally effected as well! 1 st Peter 3:7 puts it very plainly, Remember that you and your wife are partners in receiving God's blessings, and if you don't treat her as you should, your prayers will not get ready answers (TLB) (some versions even say our prayers will be cut off or blocked). The title of this course would lead you to believe it is all about intimacy between husband and wife, but “Marriages that Foster Intimacy” is about an intimate marriage relationship that involves three…the husband, the wife and God!
